About me:
I am 23 years old and live in Texas and as you may already know, I was not circumcised at birth since it was not medically necessary. I have been suffering from an acute degree of phimosis ever since I can remember. I have had issues retracting my foreskin and can be pretty painful cleaning and during sexual activities.
During my childhood my doctor suggested to my parents to stretch my foreskin during my daily showers (Foreskin sustain its stretched state for most). After constant stretching for a good half a year I was able to clean my gland throughout the rest of my childhood. Doctor did not think it was necessary for me to get the procedure done since my foreskin had stretched.
It was not until I had sex for the first time in late teens where I started getting discomfort during intercourse. For just having sex for the first time I thought it was normal for it to have some discomfort at first. The discomfort consisted of slight tears on the tip of my foreskin and irritation. After performing a couple of more times was when I started to get concerned about my skin now adapting to the sliding of my foreskin while having intercourse. Naturally I was able to clean my gland while in the shower because I would always be in flaccid state and never erect.
Three years ago I decided to get it checked out by a doctor and was where my doctor told me i was suffering from a bit of phimosis. He prescribed me a steroid cream that I would to apply on the tip of my foreskin and do some stretching exercises. I was restricted from any form of sexual activities while I was on this treatment. Unfortunately I relocated for college in between my treatment.
I had believed that the treatment had worked because I was able to retract my skin while erect buy was a bit uncomfortable in times and felt the skin get micro cuts. Since my move I have only had sex about 5 times. Three out of the 5 times I had tears on my foreskin while the other two my foreskin was pretty irritated and after each time of performing I noticed my skin to tighten (this is because of scar tissue forming when the cuts heal).
It was not until two months after graduating from college when I decided for it to be taken care of. I first went to a regular medical doctor for a check up and told him about my previous foreskin complications. There the doctor's office referred me to a Urologist.
After telling the Urologist my previous complications and examination he recommended a circumcision to cure the problem of my tight foreskin. The doctor told me that it is best to get the procedure done before it because a serious problem since I had already taken the other alternative and have shown no improvement.

In the United States adult circumcision is considered a cosmetic surgery if you do not have a complication like myself. Insurance only covers circumcision if it is for a medical reason. (Adult circumcision can cost anywhere between $2000-$3000 under hospital and under in-office circumcisions can cost $500-$1000)
